Chapter 6 - Shopping
With Sienna
March 9th
2013
Kristen POV
It didn’t take long for us to reach the stores,
it wasn’t until I was actually out, spending time with Sienna and it not be in
between filming a movie or promoting one, for once it was just about spending
time for myself, something that neither Rob nor I had a lot of time to do. By
the time we’d reached the stores, Destiny was fast asleep in her stroller, she
wouldn’t need feeding for another two hours, After browsing through the stores
for a while I noticed some t shirts and shorts I liked the look of deciding
just to go for it and buy them, I wasn’t sure exactly where I’d wear them, but
I did know I couldn’t hide in hoody’s forever. After paying for the clothes I
made my way back toward Sienna and Marlowe reaching into the stroller stroking
Destiny’s cheek gently before placing the purchases underneath the stroller.
“You seem a lot more relaxed now.”
“I am I think I was just overthinking
everything. The talk with Tom really helped.”
“I thought it would when he told me what the
conversation had been about.”
“It all feels a little stupid now.”
“It’s not stupid, Kris it’s understandable after
everything they’ve put you and Rob through.”
“They tried to break us but all they did was
make us stronger. I’ve got a question.”
“Go ahead.”
“When did you start pumping milk for Tom to feed
Marlowe?”
“Around the first six weeks.”
“That’s what I was thinking. I know Rob
understands that I need to feed her, I just don’t want him to miss out on any
bonding.”
“I was the same with Tom. Whenever you feel most
comfortable that’s when you should do it.”
“Thank you.”
“What for?”
“Giving advice. Letting us stay. This is the
most free I’ve felt since July last year.”
“I’m glad that you guys came. Tom really missed
you.”
“I’m scared of going back to LA but at the same
time I want to.”
“The best thing to do is just focus on being home,
and whatever happens will happen you can’t control everything.”
“You sound like Rob. Nick is releasing a
statement about Destiny’s birth but something tells me it’s too late and
everyone already knows.”
“Would that be a bad thing?”
“No, it’s just one more thing they’ve taken away
from us.”
“Don’t show them that they get to you.”
“I promise I’ll try.”
“Good, now let’s shop some more and we can get
to the beach.”
“I like that plan.”
With my mind at ease once again, we headed
toward Bloomingdales, it wasn’t often I managed to actually shop for myself and
it was definitely something I was looking forward to. By the time we arrived,
I’d forgotten about my worries and in its place was a bubble of energy,
managing to find everything I was looking for alongside, adorable baby clothes
for Destiny. About an hour after we’d been inside, I heard a commotion behind
me, that’s when I knew the statement Nick would release was not needed. Turning
slowly, I sighed noticing a bunch of fans following behind us. As I looked at
them carefully, I noticed they didn’t seem like the type of fans who wanted Rob
for themselves. Setting the brake on the stroller I stroked Destiny’s cheek
gently as she slept giving the fans my entire focus.
“Hello, you know you don’t have to follow me, if
you want an autograph you only have to ask.”
“We…we read about the baby in the paper and
wanted to say congratulations. We just didn’t want to disturb you.”
“Thank you. Her name is Destiny, she was born on
March 1st. would you like that autograph?”
“Yes please.”
“Come closer then, I can’t leave her alone.”
Once the fans had moved closer to Sienna and
myself, I took their paper signing my autograph and a small message to them
saying thank you for their support. Now they would know just how much their
support means to me, how much confidence it gives me. With Twilight ended and
Rob doing movies whilst I was on maternity leave I was slightly worried that
the fans would react badly, yet just as they had done at the premieres they
proved me wrong and were as supportive if not more than they always had been.
Handing them back their autograph books, I slipped the sharpy back into my
pocket smiling.
“An official statement will be released within
the next few days about Destiny’s arrival. Could you not say anything until
then?”
“Of course we can. It’s your decision when she’s
revealed not ours. Can you say hello to Rob for us?”
“I’ll make sure it’s the first thing I do when
we meet up later.”
“Thank you.”
“Your welcome.”
As I watched the fans leave, I suddenly felt
more confident than I had done in a long time. Taking the brake off Destiny’s
stroller I made my way to the checkout desk paying for my purchases making my
way back to Sienna in record time. I noticed she’d also found some clothes
alongside baby clothes for Marlowe. Once she’s paid for her purchases we made
our way out of Bloomingdales heading back toward the house. Twenty minutes
later, we walked up the driveway, laughing as Rob and Tom came to bring the
bags inside. Typical males but you had to love them. Lifting Destiny from her
stroller I moved into the living room pulling the blanket over my breasts,
smiling as Destiny latched on starting to suckle. I was brought out of my
thoughts by Rob kissing my lips gently.
“Did you have fun?”
“Mm, I had a good talk with Sienna about when to
start pumping milk, I’ve decided after I get the all clear from Dr Mason.”
“Sounds like a plan to me. What else did you
do?”
“Shopped a lot. I got some normal clothes for
when I feel comfortable enough to wear shorts and T shirts again. We also met
some fans, they asked me to say hello to you. It appears that the media have
informed our fans that Destiny arrived but I still want to release the
statement officially.”
“I asked Nick to come round after we’re back in
LA.”
“I like the sound of that. Sienna and I were
talking about heading to the beach to take the photographs of us. The sun is
starting to appear, only if you want to that is.”
“I’d love to. When?”
“Once I’ve finished nursing.”
“Sounds good to me.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”

The Beach
Rob POV
Seeing Kristen smile always made my heart skip a
beat, she took my breath away; at first I was nervous about her shopping trip
with Sienna; however it appeared to have been the best thing for her. As she
nursed Destiny, I brought the shopping purchases upstairs into our bedroom
during our short stay. After getting showered and changed I made my way back downstairs
where Kristen was burping Destiny. Pulling my IPhone out of my pocket, I took a
picture smiling as Destiny moved her head to shield herself from the flash. Just
as I was putting my IPhone away, Kristen look over at me giving me the most
shit eating grin I’ve ever seen from her. In that moment I knew everything was
in its rightful place. Walking the short distance toward my wife and daughter,
taking her gently from Kristen’s arms as she left to get changed. Taking a deep
breath, I paced the floor holding Destiny against my shoulder rocking her
gently as she started to fuss. I was brought out of my thoughts by Tom’s hand
on my shoulder I could tell he was laughing.
“What’s funny?”
“Nothing, it’s just you were made to be a
father. It’s in your DNA.”
“How can you tell that?”
“By the way you are with Kristen, you’re more
gentle, more so than before. Not to mention the way you are with Destiny.”
“I didn’t think I could love Kris more than I
already do, but when I look in Destiny’s eyes, knowing how hard Kristen worked
to bring her into the world, my love for her has multiplied tenfold.”
“I know the feeling. Are you looking forward to
taking these photographs?”
“I am.”
“Kristen seems to be in a brighter mood.”
“She is, I think talking to Sienna put her mind
at ease.”
“That’s good.”
“Mm, should we get the kids in the car, and then
we just need to wait on the girls.”
“That sounds like a good idea.”
During our conversation, Destiny had settled
down against my shoulder and was now sleeping peacefully. Grabbing her diaper bag
on the way out, I gently laid her in her car seat making sure the clips were
secure, placing the paci in her mouth smiling as she suckled on it as she
slept. Gently closing the car door, I followed Tom back inside just as Kristen
and Sienna were coming downstairs dressed in Bikini tops and shorts. Suddenly I
wished Kristen and I were able to do something other than touching. Taking a
deep breath I managed to reign in my emotions just in time as Kristen walked
over to me resting her hand against my thigh.
“You’re a minx do you know that?”
“Mm you’ve never mentioned that one before, I
take it you like my bikini and shorts.”
“You look gorgeous. Extremely sexy.”
“Glad you like it. Let’s go.”
“Your wish, my command.”
Wrapping my arms around Kristen’s waist, I
walked outside leading her to the back seat as we slid into the car, suddenly I
was thankful that Tom had an SUV rather than a four door car, we were able to
be near Destiny even though we couldn’t be right next to her. As Kristen rested
her head against my shoulder I knew she was relaxed, whatever had happened on
the shopping trip had definitely worked. Taking hold of her hand, I gave it a
small squeeze as Tom started to drive toward the beach. This was our last big
outing before moving back to LA and I had to say I was suddenly looking forward
to being home, as much as I love England, LA is now home for both of us, not
just because Kristen’s family live close by.
Kristen POV
Twenty minutes later we arrived at the beach, it
didn’t take a genius to realise that we weren’t only there for the family
photographs, Rob and I needed the relaxation before we headed home. Even if we
did get a private jet home, there was no guarantee that the paparazzi wouldn’t
be waiting for us; however unlike earlier today I was determined not to let
them affect my mood. The media would always want a piece of Rob and I, we’ve
come to accept that. Taking Destiny from her car seat I held her against my
chest as Rob grabbed the blankets and sun cream. Once we were all ready, we
made our way toward the beach, I noticed there were a few people here but I
couldn’t find it in myself to care, we may be famous but we didn’t want to be
treated differently. Despite our relaxed attitude, I could feel Rob’s arm
around us, papa bear had made reappearance. Once we were on the sand, it didn’t
take us long to find a spot, after placing the blankets on the soft sand, Rob
helped me sit as I held Destiny closer to my chest as she slept. As relaxed as
I was, the minute Rob sat next to me I instantly calmed right down.
“Should we get these pictures taken?”
“That’s why we’re here. Take as many as you
like, we can send some out to friends and family.”
“Sounds good to me.”
“I had a feeling you’d say that.”
“Oh you did huh.”
“Mm, just like I anticipated the look on your
face when you saw me in this bikini top.”
“Minx.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too sweetheart.”
Resting my head against Rob’s shoulder I rested
Destiny against my right arm as she looked up at me, I smiled seeing her awake
again, her beautiful blue eyes staring back at me with wonder. Just at that
moment, I heard the camera clicking, looking up from Destiny as I smiled at
Sienna and Tom as each began taking photographs of us. Slowly I laid Destiny in
Rob’s arms, so all the photographs were not just of me holding our precious
angel. Once again Sienna and Tom started to snap away, I could tell from the corner
of my eye people were staring but I couldn’t care less, we were nowhere near
anyone, we weren’t harming anyone. I was brought out of my thoughts by Rob
positioning Destiny in front of us as he lay against the sand resting his head
on his right hand, following suit I lay on my left side resting my head against
my left arm as yet again, photographs were taken. After another twenty minutes
Sienna put the cameras back into her handbag as I scooped Destiny into my arms
holding her close again.
“Babe are you okay?”
“Mm, those people over there have just been
staring at us a lot. They’re making me feel slightly uncomfortable.”
“Would you like me to have a word with them?”
“No let’s just enjoy ourselves. We have a long
journey tomorrow.”
“Alright.”
Taking a deep breath, I managed to calm myself
down enough to enjoy the remainder of our time on the beach, the saying time
flies when you’re having fun was definitely evident. After two hours of fun
filled laughter and relaxation, it was time for us to leave the beach. Our baby
girl was sleeping soundly and I had to admit I was feeling exhausted myself.
I’d been so content within my surroundings I hadn’t even realised Rob bring the
stroller down. Standing slowly, I laid her into the stroller covering her small
frame with her baby blanket. As we made our way back to the car, I came to the
realisation that I didn’t always have to be working to feel like I was
successful. These last few days had proven to me that not only was I able to
travel with a newborn, I was also able to interact with the fans and not feel
threatened. That knowledge alone had made me more carefree and open. I’d also
come to an important decision, unless it was a role I felt drawn to I was quite
happy being a stay at home mom. Movies were not my main priority anymore.
Destiny and Rob’s happiness were. Their happiness would now and always be my
main and only priority, no matter what was thrown our way I’d make it my
mission in life to not let anyone no matter who they were hurt my family.
